A Radiologic Evaluation of the Colon Diseases.

Abstract
The entirety of the colon is examined best by roentgenology and barium enema examination is generally regarded as the procedure of choice.
We reviewed 3801 cases of double contrast barium enema during the period from Mar. 1979 to Feb, 1983 at Jeonbug National University Hospital and Jeonju Presbyterian Medical Center.
The psulto Were as followa :
1. Rgent$en examination of 3801 barium enema during Past 4 years : normal, 2534 cases (66.7%) ; abnormal, 1207 cases(33.3%).
21 Among the abnormal findings : imf~ ,mmatory bowel diseases, 732 cases (57.8 %) : tumors, 173s(13.5r6) : intussusceptiosx, 257 cases (20.3%) : divericulum, 18 cases (1.4%) congenital anomaly, 87 cases (6.8 %) .
3. Among the 732 cases of inflammatory bowel disease : shigellosis, 356 cases (48.6 %) amebiasis, 240 case (22, 8 %) : iLtestir al tuberculc sis 112 cases (15.-¢¥%) : ulcerative colitis, 14 cases (1.9%) : Crohn¢¥s disease, 10 cases (1.4 %) .
4. Among. the 17. cases_ of the tumors : carcinoma, 154 cases (89 %) : Polyp, 17 cases (9.8 % ) carcmoid tumor, 1 case : malignant 1 ymphoma, 1 case.
5. Among the 87 cases of congenital anomaly : congenital megacolon, 51 cases (58.7 %) imperforated anus, 29 cases (33.3 %) intestinal malrotation, 7 cases (8.0 %) .
